GARR LANGE
Fresh out of college, Garr moved to New York where his off-off Broadway plays ('18K's' and 'Turbo') landed him representation from the William Morris Agency (NY) as a playwright. At the same time, Garr signed with a management company based in L.A for his music. He eventually moved to Boston where he felt the music and theatre scene was more vibrant. He was right as both talents immediately gained the attention of the Boston entertainment industry.
Garr attracted some of Boston's finest musicians and formed 'Garr Lange & The Big Rig', a groundbreaking 'country' influenced rock band. Garr and 'The Big Rig' stormed the Boston stages where Garr won the ASCAP/Boston Music Foundation's award for 'Best Song' and along with his band garnered numerous Boston Music Award nominations including Male Vocalist of the Year and Best Act. He was celebrated by the Boston media for his eclectic rock and country styling, a combination of hot original grooves along with his ability to deliver provocative and passionate ballads.
On the theatre front, Garr's play, 'The Water Table', won the finalist award in the esteemed Clauder Competition and led to productions at the Boston Shakespeare Company and the Renegade Theatre in Hoboken, NJ.
After a short stay in Nashville, Garr moved to Seattle where he sought out Paul Speer, a prominent record producer and Grammy award nominee. Consequently they formed a musical relationship and recorded 'Crossing the Line'. Picking up where he left off, Garr's rich voice and trademark styling as a songwriter made for a collection full of unique and compelling songs. With top notch production behind it, Garr effortlessly and quite convincingly 'crossed' the lines between many different roots genres. Every song from 'Crossing the Line' released in 2004 to the Euro-markets received airplay and glowing reviews in twelve different countries, clearly illustrating his diverse appeal among listeners all over the globe.
Garr now lives in Nashville where he continues to add to his impressive song catalogue. Many of his songs are now making the rounds among publishers on Music Row where he is steadily gathering notice as a writer with 'A' list potential, evidenced by his success in various world wide songwriting competitions.
As a performing and recording artist, he is looking to introduce 'Crossing the Line' to the U.S. markets and has formed a band in Nashville to tour in support of its release. Garr has also recorded a second album 'Run Through Fire' (also produced by Paul Speer). It is waiting in the wings for future release (though available online). Many within the music industry recognize Garr Lange as a major talent who is capable of gathering a faithful audience world wide.
